角色描述：
Captain Herbert Sobel was the first commanding officer of Easy Company. He was known for his harsh training methods but lacked leadership skills. Although he emerged from the war physically unscathed, he suffered greatly mentally. Despite being married with two children, he divorced and essentially disappeared. He worked as an accountant for a company in Chicago and never attended any reunions or gatherings of Easy Company or the 101st Airborne Division. After an unsuccessful suicide attempt, he died in 1988. His funeral was sparsely attended, with neither his ex-wife and children nor any of his former comrades from Easy Company present. In the book, many of the interviewed Easy Company members privately admit that while Sobel's intense focus on physical and tactical training saved lives, their shared disdain for him ultimately brought them closer together.
